Key West Tourism Guide
A trip to the Florida Keys can be a memorable experience for everyone. Some reasons
for this are obvious - sunny skies, white beaches, a warm and calm ocean, fishing,
snorkeling, evergreen scenery. But there is more to it - the real jewel awaits you at the
very end of the island chain, because that's where the city of Key West is located.
In fact, it may be that the location makes this
place and the people who live there rather
special. As you drive along Overseas
Highway, it seems that with every passing mile
your worries are left farther and farther behind.
Key West is different than any other tourist town
on the continent. Its remoteness and tropical
scenery let you forget that you are still in the
continental United States.
You can wander around town, watching little
gardens, full of flowering plants, and majestic
palm trees that surround almost every house.
The island is no more than a mile wide, so every
stroll will take you close to the water in no time.
For those interested there are museums to visit
(Ernest Hemingway house, for one), and tours to
take (we recommend a high speed catamaran
trip to the Dry Tortugas). For others, there are
beaches to enjoy during hot and lazy days, and
the sun is pretty dependable. But in the evening
everybody is heading to the same place - a big
crowd gathers on Mallory Square, just on the
edge of the sea, next to the cruise dock.

Things To Do In
Florida
Mallory Square is famous for its nightly sunset-watching ritual.
Jugglers, magicians, and rope walkers entertain the crowd, while the ocean and sky turn yellow and then
red as another day draws to a close. Finally, the crowd roars as the last ray of sunshine disappears below
the horizon and the party moves to Duval Street. Bars and restaurants fill up with people.
Once you find your favorite place it's time to enjoy another great evening in paradise. Many establishments
don't even bother with windows, one of the signs that gives Key West tourism a very specific character.
