Jacksonville Beach Florida

Beyond the big and busy city of Jacksonville Florida, lies a nice beach town called
Jacksonville Beach.  This is where the city meets the ocean, and where all those
restless beach enthusiasts live and play.  The shoreline here may easily compete with
any other Florida beach when it comes to its beauty.
Jacksonville Beach stretches along the Atlantic shore from the mouth of St Johns River in
the north to Ponte Vedra in the south, roughly about 8 miles of white sand and beach town
atmosphere.  It has a Navy port near the village of Mayport as its neighbor to the north, then
incorporates a large, wooded Hanna Park with multiple points of beach access, but most of the
shoreline belongs to a wide public beach with a white, fine sand, and great waves.
You can find people "beaching" from sunrise to sunset: jogging, fishing, surfing, tanning, playing ball,
biking, walking the dog, or just having fun.  Although the official opening of the beach takes place in
the last weekend of April, there is no down season here. Our favorite event during the long summer
season is the 4th of July celebration, with fireworks right on the beach. After a hot day there is nothing
better that a walk along the beach, with a visit to one of the many restaurants and clubs open late into
the night.

The city of Jacksonville Beach Florida offers an excellent opportunity for water sports on the
intercoastal waterways, where boating, kayaking, and fishing are excellent all year round.

Other activities include horseback riding, hiking or golfing.  There are some great golf courses in the
area, including the famous Sawgrass, home of the Players Tournament in Ponte Vedra Beach, just a
few miles south. Several other golf courses are also available
If you like an urban beach with a backdrop of small streets and colorful houses, great restaurants
representing any type of cuisine, where beach attire is just fine, you will love this place.

Interested in nightlife?  Jacksonville Beach offers a variety of establishments, very popular among all
ages.  Each one provides a different atmosphere, but all have great entertainment and delicious
drinks.

You will also find many local shops with a variety of gifts and souvenirs, surfing supplies, swimsuits,
clothes, shoes etc.

Jacksonville Beach has the relaxed atmosphere of a seaside resort, but it's not crowded like
some other more advertised beach towns, which I'm sure is appreciated by its visitors.
