Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City
When it comes to popular Florida tourist attractions, the sweetness and excitement of
what is known as the "Winter Strawberry Capital of the World" comes alive during the
Florida Strawberry Festival.
Brief History
The concept of the Strawberry Festival became established during the 1930s when the newly structured
Plant City Lions Club came up with the idea on how to bring neighboring communities together –
a celebration of the strawberry harvest.
Additional local organizations (including the American Legion Post #26) would later join the Lions Club in
planning the festivities.
Today, the Florida Strawberry Festival Association is headed by a board of directors within the local
community that work year-round to create an event that serves as one of the top food-related tourist
attractions in the state.
Festival Dates
Held for the span of 10 days usually between the end of February through the beginning of March, the
Strawberry Festival is a great way to celebrate the tasty charm of one of the most popular berries in the
United States.
In 2008, the Festival will be observed from February 28th to March 9th.
The coming years will see this popular Florida tourist attraction come alive:
February 26th to March 8th, 2009
March 4th to March 14th, 2010
March 3rd to March 13th, 2011
March 1st to March 11th, 2012
